If you are an OSX user who is looking to firmware update your Z-Wave products such as our Multisensor 6 / Gen5, or other products using our OTA firmware update software, you will need to use a virtual port for Windows 7.

There is a free software called "VirtualBox" which you can run on most OSX machines (Mac).

You can find Virtual Box here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads?replytocom=98578

You can find the Windows 7 free image file here: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/

  • Virtual Machine Box: select which IE you are currently using, linked with the OS (ie. IE11 on Win7)
  • Select Platform: VirtualBox

Once you have finished installing VirtualBox, and use the free Windows image file to open up Windows 7, you must now install the drivers for the Z-Stick Gen5 (You can find the instructions here along with the INF file: https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/solution/articles/6000034892-install-z-stick-gen5-drivers-inf-on-windows).

If you have the Z-Stick S2 then you would need UART to USB drivers by Silabs which you may find here:

https://www.silabs.com/products/development-tools/software/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers

You may now use your Windows Image OS to run our OTA firmware updates, or other OTA updateable products.
