When paired with Aeotec Smart Home Hub and the SmartThings software that the hub uses, TriSensor 8 user guide will offer the following features:


  • Motion Sensor
  • Temperature
  • Illuminance
  • Battery level




Steps to connect TriSensor 8 to Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).

  1. Open SmartThings app. 
  2. Tap"+" located at the top right corner (second icon from the right). 
  3. Tap "Add device". 
  4. Next to Partner devices, tap the "Add" button.
  5. Tap "Aeotec"
  6. Tap "Add without QR code"
  7. Tap "Multipurpose Sensor" (or Motion Sensor)
  8. SmartThings will now be scanning for a device to pair (you can confirm that the green LED on your hub is now blinking at this point).
    • Press the Action button 3 times within 1.5 seconds on your TriSensor 8 to pair the sensor (button is found in the battery compartment).
  9. Scan the QR Code or input the 5 digit pin code to finalize secure pairing. 
    • If you want to pair with no security, select to input the Pin code instead, and enter any 5 digit number or just "11111" which will do that.




Automate with TriSensor 8.


You may use any of the sensors on this device to control lighting, switches, dimmers, or other connected devices in your Smart Home Hub.

  1. From the main Dashboard of SmartThings, tap "Routines" at the bottom. 
  2. Tap + (at the top right corner).
  3. Under IF, tap +.
  4. Tap Device status.
  5. Tap on your TriSensor 8. 
  6. Select one of the available options to be used in a automation:
    • Motion sensor
      • Motion detected
      • No motion
    • Temperature
      • Input a range between 14 - 122 degrees
      • Determine if you want it to be
        • When temperature matches
        • When equal or above
        • When equal or below
    • Illuminance
      • Input a range between 0 - 100000 lux
      • Determine if you want it to be
        • When temperature matches
        • When equal or above
        • When equal or below
    • Battery
      • Input a range between 0 - 100 % 
      • Determine if you want it to be
        • When temperature matches
        • When equal or above
        • When equal or below
  7. Tap Done.
  8. Determine if you want it to trigger after a certain amount of time in that state using "Stays this status for how long?"
    • If enabled, enter 1, 5, or 10 minutes, or a customized time frame.
  9. Tap Save.
  10. Tap + under Then.
  11. Select what you want this automation to do based on the condition you set from the MultiSensor.




How to remove TriSensor 8 from Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).


These steps can be performed even if TriSensor 8 are not yet paired to your Aeotec Smart Home Hub.

  1. Open SmartThings app
  2. Find your hub in the device list, then select it
  3. Tap More Options (3 dot icon) located at the top right corner.
  4. Tap Settings
  5. Tap Z-Wave Utilities
  6. Tap General Exclusion
  7. Open the battery cover of your TriSensor 8.
  8. Now tap the Action Button 3x times within 1.5 seconds on TriSensor 8. 
  9. SmartThings should confirm that it has removed a device.
  10. Now try the pairing steps at the top again.




Troubleshooting


1. Having issues pairing your device?

  • Move your Sensor within 4 - 10 ft of your Aeotec Smart Home Hub, its possible that it is too far.
  • Remove power from Aeotec Smart Home Hub for 6 minutes, then power it up again.
  • Remove power from TriSensor 8 for 1 minute, then power it up again.
  • Try factory resetting or excluding your MultiSensor 7.
    • Exclude first in case the device actually paired to your hub other-wise it will leave a phantom device in your network that will be difficult to remove.
    • Perform a manual factory reset
      1. Remove the cover of your TriSensor 8.
      2. Press and hold the Action Button for 12 seconds on TriSensor 8.
      3. If successful, the LED should fade  for at least 10 seconds to indicate it is ready to be paired.
