When paired with Aeotec Smart Home Hub and the SmartThings software that the hub uses, Home Energy Meter 8 user guide will offer the following features:
Export Power (Consumed)

These UI interfaces will appear for the Total, Clamp 1, Clamp 2, and/or Clamp 3 depending on the version of the Home Energy Meter 8 that you have.
Install the Custom Edge Driver (required currently):
You may need to install a custom edge driver for the Home Energy Meter 8, SmartThings may not fully support this device yet in the initial release of this product.
- Click on the invitational link from either Aeotec Groupto access the drivers.
- Sign into your SmartThings/Samsung account.
- Click "ACCEPT" to join the channel.
- Click on "Enroll" next to the hub you want to install it to (you may need to do this for multiple hubs if you want each hub to use the same channel).
- Give it about a minute for your account and hub to gain access, and then refresh the page (it will automatically refresh if you wait long enough).
- Click "Available Drivers" next to the hub you want to install the driver to.
- Find "Aeotec Home Energy Meter" and click on "Install".
- You may alternatively use these edge drivers which fully support the Home Energy Meter 8 (depending on which version of the Home Energy Meter 8 you have):

- Aeotec Home Energy Meter Gen5 2 clamp
- Aeotec Home Energy Meter Gen5 3 clamp

Once installed, your Home Energy Meter 8 will automatically use the custom edge driver when paired.
Steps to connect Home Energy Meter 8 to Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).
- Open the SmartThings app.
- Tap"+" located at the top right corner (second icon from the right).
- Tap "Add device".
- Tap "Scan Nearby"
- SmartThings will now be scanning for a device to pair (you can confirm that the green LED on your hub is now blinking at this point).
- Tap the action button once quickly on Home Energy Meter 8 to pair the sensor.
- Tap "Secure Setup" when the popup warning appears.
- Scan the QR Code or input the 5 digit pin code to finalize secure pairing.
- If you want to pair with no security, select to input the PIN code instead, and enter any 5-digit number or just "11111" which will do that.
Automate with Home Energy Meter 8.
You may use any of the sensors on this device to control lighting, switches, dimmers, or other connected devices in your Smart Home Hub.
- From the main Dashboard of SmartThings, tap "Routines" at the bottom-right.
- Tap + (at the top right corner).
- Under IF, tap +.
- Tap Device status.
- Tap on your Home Energy Meter 8.
- Select one of the available options to be used in the routine:
- Power Meter
- Energy Meter
- etc.
- Tap Done.
- Determine if you want it to trigger after a certain amount of time in that state using "Stays this status for how long?"
- If enabled, enter 1, 5, or 10 minutes, or a customized time frame.
- Tap Save.
- Tap + under Then.
- Select what you want this automation to do based on the condition you set from the MultiSensor.
How to remove Home Energy Meter 8 from Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).
These steps can be performed even if Home Energy Meter 8 are not yet paired to your Aeotec Smart Home Hub.
- Open SmartThings app
- Find your hub in the device list, then select it
- Tap More Options (3 dot icon) located at the top right corner.
- Tap Settings
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap General Exclusion
- Now tap the Action Button once quickly on Home Energy Meter 8.
- SmartThings should confirm that it has removed a device.
- Now try the pairing steps at the top again.
Troubleshooting
1. Having issues pairing your device?
- Move your Sensor within 4 - 10 ft of your Aeotec Smart Home Hub, its possible that it is too far.
- Remove power from Aeotec Smart Home Hub for 6 minutes, then power it up again.
- Remove power from Home Energy Meter 8 for 1 minute, then power it up again.
- Try factory resetting or excluding your Home Energy Meter 8.
- is Exclude first in case the device paired to your hub otherwise it will leave a phantom device in your network that will be difficult to remove.
- Perform a manual factory reset
- Remove the cover of your Home Energy Meter 8.
- Press and hold the Action Button for 12 seconds on Home Energy Meter 8.
- If successful, the LED should fade in and out while it is factory reset.
