In Homey Pro, a multiple devices are created for each end point of the device. The app has been configured do this to create a clear overview of the individual endpoints for a more simple view rather than 72 individual devices.

Add/Inclusion Home Energy Meter to Homey

  1. Open Homey App.
  2. Change to Devices.
  3. Press (upper right corner).
  4. Tap New Device.
  5. Search and select Aeotec App, and then select Home Energy Meter 8.
  6. Tap Connect.
  7. Quick tap/press the button on Home Energy Meter 8 once.
  8. Quick tap/press the button on Home Energy Meter 8 once again when requested.
  9. Add the 5-digit DSK Code from the Backside of Home Energy Meter 8 under the mount.
  10. Following the instruction in the App

Remove Home Energy Meter 8 from Homey

  1. Open Homey App.
  2. Choose the Home Energy Meter 8s' Main device.
  3. Tap Gear wheel.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Remove device.
  5. Confirm with delete.
  6. Quick tap/press the button on Home Energy Meter 8 once.

Home Energy Meter 8 with 3 Clamps:

Endpoint meanings:

  • Endpoint 0: Home Energy Meter 8 C3  -> Important for setting configurations on the device
  • Endpoint 1: Phase 1 import (Clamp 1)
  • Endpoint 2: Phase 1 export (Clamp 1)
  • Endpoint 3: Phase 2 import (Clamp 2)
  • Endpoint 4: Phase 2 export (Clamp 2)
  • Endpoint 5: Phase 3 import (Clamp 3)
  • Endpoint 6: Phase 3 export (Clamp 3)
  • Endpoint 7: Algebraic sum import
  • Endpoint 8: Algebraic sum export
  • Endpoint 9: Net import
  • Endpoint 10:Net export
    • Import = Consumption
    • Export = Production

Special settings:

For the individual consumption values (import) of the phases, it is highly recommended to define these:

  • To do this, select "Energy meter mode" in the settings.

Parameter 101 – 106

These parameters can be configured individually with predefined values or via the Expert setting.

For a customized configuration, please refer to the engineering sheet to determine the values which can be found at this link: https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/helpdesk/attachments/6214261061

3 Clamp Parameter 101-106 decimal value table (1 clamp and 2 clamp versions will be different).

Below is a table of each reports decimal value which you can use to calculate the setting for Parameter 101-106:

Decimal ValueReport Type
1kWh Total
2W Total
4V Total
8A Total
16kVarh Total
32kVar Total
64kVah Total
128Power Factor (PF) Total
256kWh Clamp 3
512W Clamp 3
1024V Clamp 3
2048A Clamp 3
4096kVarh Clamp 3
8192kVar Clamp 3
16384kVah Clamp 3
32768Power Factor Clamp 3
65536kWh Clamp 2
131072W Clamp 2
262144V Clamp 2
524288A Clamp 2
1048576kVarh Clamp 2
2097152kVar Clamp 2
4194304kVah Clamp 2
8388608Power Factor (PF) Clamp 2
16777216kWh Clamp 1
33554432W Clamp 1
67108864V Clamp 1
134217728A Clamp 1
268435456kVarh Clamp 1
536870912kVar Clamp 1
1073741824kVah Clamp 1
2147483648Power Factor (PF) Clamp 1

To calculate what parameter 101-106 you want to report, you can add the values of all the reports you want one of the groups to report. This would allow you to disable or remove reports that you don't care about, or reduce report speeds for some reports.

For example:

  • kWh Total and W Total only to report on Parameter 101
  • 256 + 512 = 768
  • Parameter 101 [4 byte] = 768
    • This would set Group 1 to report only kWh and W Clamp 3 only.

Attention! Every change, whether defined or expert, overwrites the setting in the device. The setting values in the Homey are not updated.

Energy Panel:

In order to obtain a correct display in the Energy Panel, a setting must be made for the devices with net value and algebraic value to avoid false measurement results.

The value "Exclude from Energy" must be set to "Yes" in all 4 devices under Energy.
