When paired with Aeotec Smart Home Hub and the SmartThings software that the hub uses, aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8 will offer the following features:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Dew Point

  • Battery Level



First Install the edge driver "Aeotec aerQ Sensor 8"

  1. Login to to your Smartthings account here: https://bestow-regional.api.smartthings.com/invite/8b2AZR9b06lv
  2. Enroll the channel to your hub
  3. Click on Available Drivers
  4. Find "Aeotec aerQ Sensor 8" and click on Install button under it.
  5. When pairing aerQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8, it will automatically utilize the installed edge driver.



Steps to pair aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8 to Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).

  1. Open SmartThings.
  2. Select "+" located at the top right corner (second icon from the right).
  3. Select "Add Device".
  4. Select "Scan Nearby"
  5. Open the cover of your aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8.
  6. Now tap the Action Button 2x quickly on aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8.
  7. (If Secure pairing available) - Click on "Secure pair" 
    1. Scan the QR code or choose to enter the DSK code (pin code located under the QR barcode)
    2. Now wait about a minute and your device should show up as "Aeotec Open/Close Sensor", feel free to rename this.



How to remove/unpair aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8 from Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).


These steps can be performed even if aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8 are not yet paired to your Aeotec Smart Home Hub.

  1. Open SmartThings.
  2. Find your hub in the device list, then select it.
  3. Tap More Options (3 dot icon) located at the top right corner.
  4. Tap Z-Wave Utilities.
  5. Tap General Exclusion.
  6. Open the cover of your aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8.
  7. Now tap the Action Button 2x quickly on Door Window Sensor 8.
  8. SmartThings should confirm that it has factory reset and removed a device.
  9. Now try the pairing steps at the top again.



Troubleshooting


1. Having issues pairing your device?

  • Move your Sensor within 4 - 10 ft of your Aeotec Smart Home Hub, its possible that it is too far.
  • Remove power from Aeotec Smart Home Hub for 6 minutes, then power it up again.
  • Remove power from aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8 for 1 minute, then power it up again.
  • Try factory resetting or removing your aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8.
    • Remove/unpair first in case the device actually paired to your hub otherwise it will leave a phantom device in your network that will be difficult to remove/unpair.
    • Perform a manual hard factory reset
      1. Remove the cover of your aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8
      2. Press and hold the Action Button for 12+ seconds until the green blinking LED becomes solid.
      3. Release the Action Button.


2. aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8 showing up as a generic device?

  • Check if SmartThings picked up all of the correct information, follow the below steps to check:
    1. Login to: my.smartthings.com
    2. Click on the 3 dot icon (top right)
    3. Click Advanced User
    4. Click Devices
    5. Click on the name of your aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8
      • If Manufacturer Code shows 0000-0000-0000 then this sensor will need to be excluded/removed, and then paired again.
