Hubitat will automatically use the correct driver for your Water Sensor 8 while connected. This guide will lead you through connecting your Water Sensor 8 to your Hubitat hub and will feature:
- Water Sensor
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Tamper
- Battery
Install Water Sensor 8 driver
- Login to your Hubitat hub interface.
- On the left, select "Driver code"
- At the top right, select "+ New driver"
- Open the text file containing the code: Water Sensor 8 Driver Code
- Copy all lines of code from top to bottom, then paste the code into the New Drivers code box in Hubitat
- CTRL + a (to highlight all)
- CTRL + c (to copy all highlighted)
- Then in the code box in Hubitats interface, CTRL + v (to paste all code)
- Save the driver.
Steps to connect Water Sensor 8 to Hubitat.
- Open your Hubitat interface.
- Click on Devices.
- Click on Discover Devices.
- Click on Z-Wave.
- Click on Start Z-Wave Inclusion.
- Now 2x quick tap the Action Button on Water Sensor 8.
- A device box should appear almost immediately, give it about 10 seconds to initialize, feel free to name your device and save this.
How to remove or factory reset Water Sensor 8 from Hubitat.
- Open your Hubitat interface.
- Click on Devices.
- Click on Discover Devices.
- Click on Z-Wave.
- Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion.
- Now 2x quick tap the Action Button on Water Sensor 8.
- Your Hubitat should tell you if it excluded an unknown device, or a specific sensor if it was paired properly previously.
Troubleshooting
Having issues pairing your device?
- Move your Sensor within 4 - 10 ft of your Hubitat Z-Wave network.
- Remove power from Water Sensor 8 for 1 minute, then power it up again.
- Try factory resetting or removing your Water Sensor 8.
- Remove / Factory Reset first in case the device actually paired to Hubitat otherwise it will leave a phantom device in your network that will be difficult to remove.
- Perform a manual factory reset - only do this if you are not able to perform the remove steps above.
- Press and hold the Action Button for 12 seconds when it is completed, the LED will become solid green for 1 second, and then start to fade a red color in/out 3 times to indicate it is ready to be connected to a new hub.
