Amazon Alexa
a.1. Connect Amazon Alexa with AutoPilot
AutoPilot server and Alexa can be linked to allow Alexa to voice control all connected devices such as switches, dimmers, or other appliance controls.
Steps
- Open Amazon Alexa app.
- Tap "More".
- Tap "Skills & Games".
- Search "AutoPilot” and select the top search.
- Tap "ENABLE TO USE".
- Sign into your Aeotec ID account and press Login.
- Select your hub and tap "Accept".
- Tap "Close".
- Tap "DISCOVER DEVICES".
- Tap "Devices" to verify if all your devices have been added.
a.2. Discover devices with Amazon Alexa
After you have connected Amazon Alexa to AutoPilot, any new devices paired/connected to AutoPilot should be automatically discovered as they are paired/connected.
If your devices are not automatically found, you can use the below voice command to manually search for new devices.
Steps
- Use voice command to your Echo, "Alexa, discover devices"
- Alexa will respond with "Starting discovery...", and when finished Alexa will notify you if she has found any new devices or if it could not.
a.3. Voice commands to Amazon Alexa
Now you’re done with setup and ready to use Alexa’s hands-free voice control for your AutoPilot devices. The general format for voice control will typically be "Alexa, (COMMAND) (DEVICE NAME)".
Try these voice commands:
- “Alexa, turn on/off the bedroom light.”
- “Alexa, set the bedroom light to 10.” (Brightness can be modified on a scale of 0 - 100.)
- “Alexa, turn the patio lights to blue.”
- “Alexa, is the bedroom window open?”
- “Alexa, turn the desk light on/off.”
- “Alexa, raise/lower kitchen thermostat by 10 degrees.”
- “Alexa, set kitchen thermostat to 70 degrees.”
- “Alexa, lock my front door.”
- “Alexa, turn on theater mode.” (Shortcuts can be executed just like turning on a switch.)
If you mess up in any point of your phrase, just state "Nevermind" and re-say your command again.
a.4. Disconnect AutoPilot from Amazon Alexa
Uninstalling Alexa from AutoPilot will remove the connection between Alexa and AutoPilot; your Amazon Alexa device will no longer accept voice commands for any of the previously connected devices.
Steps
- Open Amazon Alexa app.
- Tap "More".
- Tap "Skills & Games".
- Search "AutoPilot” and select the top search.
- Tap "DISABLE".

Google Assistant
The Google Assistant is a voice-activated assistant available on the Google Home speaker and all Google Android devices. With voice control through the Google Assistant, you can control lighting, plugs, thermostats, and shortcuts.
b.1. Connect Google Assistant with AutoPilot
AutoPilot and Google Assistant can be linked through Google Assistant app.
Steps
- Open Google Home App
- Tap Plus (+) icon in the top left corner.
- Tap "Set up device".
- Tap "Works with Google".
- Search for "AutoPilot".
- Login to your Aeotec ID account
- Tap "Accept".
- Select all your new devices, then press "Add to room".
- Select what "Room" you want to add them to
- Then tap "Next" then "Done".
All new devices connected/paired to AutoPilot should automatically appear in Google Home.
b.2. Assign your devices to rooms using Google Home app
By assigning your AutoPilot devices to a room with Google Home Control, you can control multiple lights as a group. First, add rooms in Google Home Control and then assign devices to your rooms.
These rooms in Google Home will assign all devices to the respective spaces they are already in, but you can move them outside of their respective rooms in which Google Home rooms will operate differently than AutoPilots spaces.
Steps
- Open the Google Home app
- Tap Settings
- Tap Rooms and groups
- Select the Room that you want to configure.
- Tap the "Choose devices".
- Select all devices you want to be a part of this room.
- Tap Save
b.3. Voice commands to Google Assistant
Now you’re done with setup and ready to use Google Assistant hands-free voice control for your AutoPilot devices. The general format for voice control will typically be "Ok Google, (COMMAND) (DEVICE NAME/ROOM)".
General phrases:
- “Ok Google, turn on/off all lights.”
- “Ok Google, turn on/off all switches.”
- “Ok Google, turn on/off everything in the kitchen.”
- “Ok Google, dim/brighten the lights in the living room.” (This will adjust the brightness by 20%)
- “Ok Google, set the bedroom light to 10%.” (Brightness can be modified on a scale of 0-100%.)
- “Ok Google, dim/brighten the bathroom light by 50%.”
- “Ok Google, turn lights in the game room green.”
- “Ok Google, turn on/off everything.”
- “Ok Google, is the patio light on?”
b.4. Disconnect AutoPilot from Google Assistant
You can disconnect AutoPilot at any point in time from Google Home app, by removing AutoPilot as a service from Google Home, you remove voice Google Homes access to your AutoPilot devices.
Google Home steps
- Tap Settings
- Under Services, select "Works with Google".
- Under Linked services, select "AutoPilot".
- Tap Unlink Account
- Tap Unlink
