This solution explains how you can connect, remove, force remove, or replace devices to and from AutoPilot™ server. It forms part of a broader guide on managing and using AutoPilot which can be found here.

Connect a device
This section will teach you how to connect devices to AutoPilot server using either the browser interface or using SmartStart through the app interface.
1. In browser interface
Steps
1. In AutoPilot server, select "DEVICES" in the top most menu.
2. Select "+ Add new".
3. Select whether you have an
Aeotec - Select the device that you want to pair from our Aeotec product line, doing so will show instructions on what button to press to pair it.
POPP - Select the device that you want to pair from our Popp product line, doing so will show instructions on what button to press to pair it.
+ - Automatically detect what type of device you have, you will need to reference the button press required to connect it.
5. Select "+ Add".
6. Now follow the instructions to add the device on screen, if you've selected the general pair method, follow the instructions in your devices manual to connect it.
7. Select an option in the popup page.
Basic - Automatically uses the highest safety class
Pro - Select the security level you want to use. A multiple selections is possible.
S0 - Lowest security level - no further action required
S2 Unauthentificated - High security level - no further input necessary
S2 Authentificated - High security level - PIN entry required. You will find the PIN on the device or packaging.
S2 Access - High security level for locks - PIN entry required. You will find the PIN on the device or packaging.
None - The security mode is ignored.
8. Select OK.
9. You should now have access to its settings and control over your connected device.
2. In app interface using SmartStart
Steps
1. Tap the Menu.
2. Tap the Devices.
3. Tap +.
4. Fill in the device information.
- Select a device.
- Name this device.
- Assigned Space.
- Pick an icon for this device.
5. Select Scan using device's QR code.
6. Scan the device's SmartStart QR code using your Smartphones camera.
7. Power the scanned device if it was scanned without power.
8. Select OK or Open device page.
- OK will bring you back to the device page.
- Open device page will bring you to the newly scanned device page for any configuration or changes you need to do (setting it to a space, changing its name, parameter settings, etc).

Remove a device
Removing a device from AutoPilot server using these steps will remove the device from AutoPilot server and factory reset it.
Steps
1. In AutoPilot server, select "DEVICES" in the top most menu.
2. Select the Device that you want to remove and factory reset in the list.
3. Select "Settings".
4. Select "Remove" at the bottom of the page.
5. Select "Remove".
6. Start the removal steps on your device, typically you only need to tap its button.

Factory reset a device that is not connected to AutoPilot server
If you find that you cannot connect a device to AutoPilot server, you can factory reset that device using "Remove Device" from its add screen. This will factory reset and ready your device to be connected to AutoPilot server.
These steps will work to remove devices connected to AutoPilot server as well.
Steps
1. In AutoPilot server, select "DEVICES" in the top most menu.
2. Select "+ Add new".
3. Select "+".
4. Select "Remove Device".
5. Start the removal steps on your device, typically you only need to tap your devices button.
6. AutoPilot server will revert back to the previous screen, and notify you that "Device excluded".

Force remove a device
This section will teach you how to forcefully remove devices from AutoPilot server. This method will not factory reset the device if a force remove is performed.
Steps
1. In AutoPilot server, select "DEVICES" in the top most menu.
2. Select the Device that you want to remove in the list of devices.
3. Select "Settings".
4. Select "Remove"
If it is a battery device.
5.1. Select "Mark as failed".
5.2. Select "Remove failed node"
If it is a powered device.
5.1. Select "Remove failed node".
6. You will receive a confirmation from AutoPilot server that the device was removed.

Replace a failed device
You can replace a failed device with a brand new unit of the same device, which will assume the same identification and retain its AutoPilot automations upon connecting to AutoPilot server.
Steps
1. In AutoPilot server, select "DEVICES" in the top most menu.
2. Choose the connected Device that you want to remove in the list of devices.
3. Select "Settings".
4. Select "Remove"
If it is a battery device.
5.1. Select "Mark as failed".
5.2. Select "Replace failed node"
5.3. Follow the instructions to connect your new device.
If it is a powered device.
5.1. Select "Replace failed node".
5.2. Follow the instructions to connect your new device.
